No Man's Land - Downtown

Game Environment | Maya, Photoshop, ZBrush, PS3

Downtown was the main gameplay map created for the PlayStation©Home first person shooter "No Man's Land". The game featured a unique cover to cover system which allowed teams of players to advance across routes through pre-determind pathways, taking cover behind various objects as they went.

Due to tight limitations of the platform, the artwork had to be highly optimised and polycounts kept to a minimum. As part of this, I developed a hex-tile geometry system for the many areas of rubble scattered around the environment, which created the appearance of vast areas of ground rubble cheaply while hiding the fact that the geometry was tiled when viewed from ground level. A screenshot of this system is shown further down the page.

I was responsible for the level design and all environment artwork other than some scene dressing and signage.
